About us

We are a non-profit, working closely with 2 schools that we visited during the summer of 2017. What we saw there moved us to tears. These were little kids, so smart and bright, but lacking basic schools supplies, clean uniform and proper shoes. But that did not deter them from learning to the best of their capability. We knew that we had to do whatever it took to help them.

We then worked diligently with the Principals and teachers, for over an year, developing and identifying the areas that needed help in these schools. We then interviewed several potential kids and their families involving several criteria like school grades and scores, financial capability, student participation in extracurricular activities like sports and teachers input. Based on these, an exhaustive list of kids that were suitable were shortlisted. Thus the program was conceived and started, we called it “Project Backpack”. 

Under the Project we are looking for a holistic approach to student development, which will include paying their tuition fee, buying them their school supplies, school uniform and their shoes. Apart from this, they will be included in a 6 week program of education enrichment course called BIOSMArtS (Brilliant Integration of  Science, Math, Art and Service). This program will have topics that integrate all these subjects, science and math quizzes, fun facts and other science experiments and models. There would also be a program called ESTEAM that would be the student tutoring and mentoring program.

Along with the student initiative, BIOSMArtS will be actively involved in training the teachers in these schools to engage their students through more effective teaching practices and an improved curriculum. The child will be given career counseling and other help needed when they reach high school, so that they can make better choices in their college course selections.

But, none of this will be successful if we don’t have donors who are willing to sponsor these kids education. We heavily rely on the members of the community for their help and support to make this program move in the right direction. 

Don’t let a child lose their future, just because they have no funds. For just $25 a month ($300 / year), you can give a child the future they deserve and dream of. Each sponsor can help fund a single child entire education from grades 6-12, for $ 300 per year, that’s a 7 year commitment. If you are reluctant to commit for this initiative, you could donate any amount you are willing to either once or annually and we will pool these funds and sponsor a child through multiple donors/donations.
